

The protagonist Shantae, is the guardian of a fishing zone known as Scuttle Town. This means that the player has to go through several areas that are interconnected, instead of the closed levels within each world. Endowed with some more complexity for what was common in 2D platform games of the late nineties, the most salient feature is the open nature of the world. Despite being eleven years old since the launch, Shantae continues to be special, mainly due to its marked degree of challenge. WayForward has been producing games of proven quality, such as Mighty Switch Force or even Duck Tales: Remastered, which is very close to being (re) released.

now the game through the eShop, we came to the conclusion that Shantae still justifies the small investment, particularly by fans of the games – retro – platforms. Launched exclusively in American territory, in 2002, by the hand of Capcom, just when Nintendo had just launched its new laptop – the GameBoy Advance -, it was seen almost as a time-out launch.

This colorful 2D platform game from Californian WayForward Studios made a long journey of 11 years to reach the European continent.
